For me giving back and influencing the youth, is something very important and a culture that I wanted to add too. This year launching the Cozy Closet Prom Giveaway (CCPG) was a major achievement for the brand. Being able to create a special night for the young women who were selected, brought me great joy.
The basis of the program is to sponsor deserving students, with a complete makeover for their prom night. As an alumni from DC public high school, and almost missing my own senior prom, I felt particularly driven to this project. I remember how my brother's past girlfriend came in and helped me get to prom. It was a memory I will cherish, especially since I missed my HS graduation. Honestly, it's moments like those that pushes you to pay it forward.
This years recipients Calyn Ivy attended Calvin Coolidge HS and Marrissa Reed attended McKinley Technology HS. Both of these young ladies were active members throughout their high school career with plans on attending Kansas State (Calyn) and Temple University (Marissa). I felt honored to give these ladies an experience they wouldn't forget. Showing great strength and prevailing through everyday struggles while still arising above academia standards. It's impressive and I salute these #BlackQueens.

Also, I can't forget the team behind this process, a big shout out to all the brands and local affiliates that helped participate in this program.
