Here we go the corny faux artist infiltrating the art space. Out in LA there is an eye soar of a mural that is exclusively for Instagram followers. Instagram's influence in branding and marketing has grown so large that you can now feel left out from enjoying public art. The @likeandsubscribe tweeted out two days that they were debuting a mural for only verified accounts or 20k followers. This lead to immediate backlash. The un-original and mundane mural didn't seem to excite anyone. In fact it pissed muralist and Instagram creators off.
Art was made for exclusion, art is created from exclusion. It seems like this PR team got it all wrong. However, this raises a good question about social media and it's impact on industries. It seems that verification already opens up exclusion in a sort. Is this something that free thinkers and creators in some spaces will have to battle to share their art among-st others.
What are your thoughts is social media affecting the Art and Fashion world? Or, is it simply agathokakological ?
